I would like to introduce you to the amazing group of people from our Saturday class at our loving church and share with you some photos of their projects.
First, our Church meets on Saturday, so we have Saturday school instead of Sunday school. The name of our loving church is ”God’s Special Church aka Community with a Cause.” Our wonderful family is open to all and wants to support the families and caregivers of those who have handicaps or disabilities, are mentally challenged or nonverbal in some cases. Our class has named themselves “God’s Saturday Friends.” Most of them attend Life Enrichment classes, Special Olympics, some had jobs, doing all sorts of things and others have volunteer placements in the community. The attendees range from 10 to 60 years old....
The Women's Wednesday morning Bible Study continues during this time of social distancing by holding their study via Zoom. The women have continued to enjoy their book by Sheila Walsh and the scriptural truths that she presents through her life experiences. Each week we are able to to pray for those in our church and our families. One of the best parts of the study is being able to see the other women as we share what is going on in our lives. We are all in this together with Christ, and we remain confident that He will guide us through troubling times.
The ladies have finished this study but continue to meet for virtual fellowship, study and prayer. Please contact Pastor Don or his wife Cindy for more information.
Joy to the World, Silent Night, Here comes Santa Claus, White Christmas, and so many other carols were belted out by a rowdy group of carolers who showed up at Chesapeake Shores Nursing home with antlers, Santa hats, and bells on. Joey played the piano and the residents sang along and helped ring the bells. To thank the crowd for letting us sing to them, we handed out ornaments that were assembled by our friends who go to the Center for Life Enrichment. It was a blessed experience for everyone.
Today's performance of the real Christmas story lifted the hearts and spirits of everyone who attended, and it was a full house. The actors and actresses dressed in their fine costumes and entered on cue. For those of you who missed it, we've captured it here in this 20 minute video along with some photos of our stars.
We were blessed to have the camp directors come visit us at our 5th Sunday Fellowship Dinner. Jim, Beverly and Heather Gross drove down for the day just to meet with us and share some stories and photos of their beautiful camp. Everyone especially likes the giant cross on the hill that overlooks Uniontown, PA. The photos got some ooohs and aaahs from the audience.
Camp Jumonville offers Christian camping programs that help their campers grown in relationship with Jesus. There are several camps offered for those with Special Needs and their families, including JAM Camp, Discovery Camp and CAT Camp Autism. Terri, at Community with a Cause, has been attending Camp Jumonville for years so you might ask her to tell you more about it. Note that there is also a need for volunteers to help at the special needs camps.
You can go to their webpage for more information on dates of summer camps for nex...
